Palliative Care
We ensure that our Palliative Care clients are as comfortable as possible. We focus on relieving the symptoms and suffering associated with severe, advanced, or incurable illnesses. The goal is to improve the client's and their family's quality of life by assisting with their physical, emotional, and social needs.
We emphasize open and honest communication between everyone involved, which includes the client, the family, and the healthcare team. Palliative care often works with other specialties, such as oncology, cardiology, neurology, and others, to ensure the client receives the best possible care across all aspects of their health.
We must be aware of the treatment plans and goals outlined for the client, which is why open communication is so important. Palliative care is often provided in a hospital and other healthcare settings but can also be provided in the patient’s home to provide comfort and familiarity.
Palliative care enhances the quality of life for individuals facing severe illnesses; it is a collaborative, patient-centred approach emphasizing open communication and shared decision-making.
Palliative Care Services include activities such as:
- Minimizing pain and discomfort.
- Alleviating emotional distress, anxiety, or depression.
- Assisting with safety, mobility, and equipment.
- Providing respite care.
- Aligning treatment outcomes with the patient’s values and preferences.
